News - Getting Started The news functionality offers a new revolutionary way to read and write news and blogs. In contrast to other media, Spogg offers an independent media where all members continuously can create and contribute to the content. How much you want to contribute is entirely up to you. Rate the news items you have read  To start with you can contribute to making Spogg feeds better by rating the items that you read. You do that by simply clicking on the rate scale, 1 to 5, next to the item. When you have voted you will directly, in the voting bar, see the current total rating related to that specific item. Customizing your news pageYou can easily customize your Spogg group's front page. Browse news groups by using the directory (at the very top of the news page), when you find a feed that you like simply click the "House" icon in the group's title bar and it will be instantly added to your front page. Click the up or down arrow icon to move a specific news group on your page. If you want to remove a specific news item click on the remove "X" icon.  Add news sourcesYou can add new sources to every news item. If it is a news item, the sources you add should be links to other news websites or other trustworthy sources of information with stories about the same news. You add new sources by clicking on "Add a new related link". The links you add will not be visible until they have been voted on by at least two other members. The need for support from other members is part of the Spogg quality assurance process.  Edit the news itemsAny member can edit a news item. To edit an item you click on the little yellow pen icon. The changes which you propose will need to be voted through by a number of members before they are published. This is to prevent abuse and spam at the site. Also, if there is a disagreement about how the news item should be presented, the opinion of the majority will decide. This is also part of the Spogg quality assurance process. You should also click on the pen icon if you want to add an image to a news item.  Help out and approve good news updatesIf there are suggested changes to an item a little hand icon, asking for help, will appear in the icon bar related to every news group. Click the hand to help out and vote for the changes which other members have suggested.  Adding news itemsSometimes there are not yet an item for a news event, then it is possible to add it to the news group. However to avoid duplicates, check that the news event you want to add has not been added by another member. If there already is an related item, you can still add another link to that particular item (see "Add sources" above). To add a new news item. Click the "Add new item" link.
